From this file all the data relevant for cutting can be filtered out (untrimmed sheet size, label sizes, label positions on the printed sheet). In this way a cutting program is prepared which can be sent on-line to the high-speed cutter.

The machine specific software, for example Compucut, allows to generate a cutting program for the cutting machine on the basis of the data contained in the ppf file.

At the high-speed cutter only the initial cut and angular cut need to be corrected, because these parameters depend on the size of the front and side lay marks and may vary when repeat orders are processed.

Consequently, make-ready times at the highspeed cutter are almost completely eliminated. Because the operator who works at the cutter does not write his/her own program, it is very important that he or she is given explicit and unambiguous information about how to cut the sheet. POLAR has a tool called process visualization which allows any operator to cut even complicated combined sheets correctly.
