1. True-to-register alignment of material being cut

Positioning of printed sheets

When printed sheets are cut on the cutting machine, the material is positioned for the first two cuts at the same sheet edges as in the printing press, i. e. at the gripper edge as well as the edge carrying the side lay mark.

The paper sheet (1) is positioned at the front lay marks (2). After that, it is pulled or pushed to the side lay mark (3) on the left or right side. The grippers take the sheet (4) and move it to the impression cylinder. The following sheets are positioned in the same way. This ensures that the printed image is positioned correspondingly on all sheets. This is called "true to register".
