Lower height of cutting ream

This is quite frequently used in practice, but the cutting deviations can only be reduced by half as a maximum and at the expense of the cutting performance. Therefore, the use of a lower height should always be a temporary solution only.

The problem: The proper clamping pressure

It is not easy for the operator to determine the required clamping pressure in advance. He/she can only adjust the clamping force. But the critical point is the clamping pressure. So the operator has to take the following correlations:

The pressure clamp exerts a clamping force (F) on a clamped area (A) of the material being cut. The clamping pressure accrues from the ratio of clamping force and clamped area.

Fig. 13 Clamping pressure:
The clamping pressure increases with increasing clamping force or with decreasing clamping area.

When printed sheets are cut into labels at a continuous clamping force, the clamping pressure is increasing when the clamping area becomes smaller. So, in order to ensure a continuous clamping pressure the paper cutter ought to re-calculate and adapt the clamping force to the decreasing clamping area, but this is very difficult in practice.

Therefore, Polar offers the automatic clamping pressure adjustment as an optional feature.
