Press release March 2008
The network concept, P-Net has made POLAR the clear leader in networking.
POLAR has offered its network concept, P-Net since drupa 2004. P-Net makes it possible to integrate individual POLAR components or POLAR cutting systems into the digital workflow through P-Net Connect. Additional functions can be added using so-called “services” are:
- Compucut: With over 25 years of experience, we are setting the standard for reducing set-up times. The cutting program can be easily set outside the high-speed cutter, thanks to the direct transfer of the page layout from prepress (CIP4 / JDF) or the manual page layout. This means the machine’s set-up time is reduced to almost zero. With uniform sheet-layouts it is even possible to automate the generating of the cutting program.
- Cut Manager: Apart from the mere transfer of the cutting programs, demand for integrating the high-speed cutter into the entire workflow is increasing. With Cut Manager, the POLAR high-speed cutter can be integrated into the workflow of, for example, the Heidelberg Prinect. The recording of production data is automatic and ensures, not only accurate order management but also a significantly improved cost analysis via post calculation.
- Remote Diagnosis: The means of production availability is increasingly becoming a deciding factor. As a bidirectional Web-Gateway, Remote Diagnosis provides the online connection between the POLAR components and customer services. So service assignments can be planned, leading to less downtime. The machine data can be regularly checked as a preventive measure against, or to eliminate, unexpected downtime. Furthermore, the operator has access to direct help for any handling or programming questions.
Compucut has already been installed over 1,300 times worldwide. POLAR celebrates an extraordinary success with the sale of the 500th P-Net network. This Hofheim company is the absolute forerunner in networking innovation.
